Sickle Cell Anaemia - a brief outline

on Chromosome 11 the beta-globin gene works with the alpha-globin gene on chromosome 16 to  encode  for the proteins in adult haemoglobin.

Mutant beta-globin that sickles, causes sickle cell anaemia, the absence of beta-globin cause beta- thalassaemia.
